Fireside weather

This is fireside weather
 Now November's here.
 Maple trees are thinning,
 Downy flakes appear,
Sharp winds that tingle;
 Warmth and cheer inside
 Chairs drawn together,
 Cushioned deep and wide.
Time to get 'acquainted,
 Time for books and friends,
Embroideries and patchwork,
 Firelight that blends
Gentle talk and laughter,
 Cups of steaming tea,
Sandwiches and cookies
 When there's company.
Thoughts that run like magic,
 Great adventures planned
Over tiny teacups.
 Hearts that understand
Travel far together
 When the frosts begin.
 This is fireside weather
 Come and walk right in!

INEZ CULVER CORBIN.
