Books

It is surprising how some seemingly insignificant happening can change the course of a man's existence. A line read somewhere, a glimpse of a picture, a word spoken, and his whole philosophy is transformed. For instance, there was a young fellow wandering aimlessly through life and he came across these words: "A man is himself plus the books he reads."
And it happened that after the young man read those words, he did not wander along aimlessly any more. And yet, comparatively speaking, a library is about the emptiest building in town.
