Give me, Life, my share of laughter,
Learned from children home from school;
Give me dreams that follow after
Tragic -hours of playing fool;
Give me, Life, my share of sorrow,
That no joy seem commonplace;
Give me glimpses of Tomorrow,
Lest I fail the killing pace;
Give me, Life, a winding highway,
Trees that reach to skies above,
And my red roof on a byway
And the lips of one I love!
