Ribbon-tied love letters

    May start memories­

And baby shoes and albums,

    But so can things like these:

A silly hat

    Slanted your way;

In another voice,

    Things you used to say;

A telephone bell

    That doesn't mean you;

The crossword puzzles

    We liked to do;

Drugstore lights

    And a snowy street;

The corner where

    We used to meet. . .

No, memories are not just things

    That happened" 'way back when" ­

They're anything that stirs your heart

    And tears it wide again!
