Tigers without mercy leap

Tigers without mercy leap,
But not upon their own asleep.
The sharp-winged falcons plunge like rock,
But not upon the falcon flock.

Alone of all the things on earth
Man torments his own from birth.
As a steel shark beneath the deep,
As a steel hawk across the sky,
 Man's enemy, the heroes sweep
Loud for blood the sages cry:
 Dread the faggot-bearing mob,
Dread the martyr in his pride
Dread the great demand of love
(Dread the fire of love denied).
Alone of all the things on earth
Man torments his own from birth.

 TOM BOGGS.
